Keith Christiansen in Conversation with Paola Vojnovic

Saturday, October 23, on Zoom
10am Los Angeles & Phoenix/1pm NY & Toronto, 6pm London, 7pm Italy

I am truly honored to welcome a very special guest, Keith Christiansen to the 27th episode of Paola's Studiolo. Together with Carlo Falciani, Keith curated the exhibition, The Medici Portraits and Politics, 1512-1570, which closed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York just a few days ago. Keith Christiansen’s legendary career at the Met spanned more than four decades. Only a month ago, he retired as the John Pope-Hennessy Chairman of the Met’s Department of European Paintings and will join us in the Studiolo to talk about his remarkable life in the art world, “learning on the job,” and his perspective on the world-famous art collection that he knows intimately from the time he arrived in 1977 as an assistant curator with a specialty in 15th century painting. Keith grew up in Washington State and California, attending UCLA and U.C. Santa Cruz before moving east to Harvard for his PhD. He will talk about the importance of art collectors who donated major works of art, helping to form the extraordinary collection the Met has today certainly among the greatest in the world. He will also discuss how the Met’s collection changed over time to reflect social and cultural currents.

This conversation with Keith Christiansen promises to be a fascinating and memorable event not just for art historians and museum professionals, but for all art aficionados!
