Coming to America: Renaissance Art in the USA

Join us on a virtual across-country meander in pursuit of Renaissance masterpieces found in US collections. Jeremy Boudreau will tune in from Florence to introduce a selection of works connected to the various churches and palaces of the city, with a particular focus on the circumstances in which paintings and decorative arts from Florence entered American collections within the larger context of the 19th-century transatlantic art market. Whether you are preparing your next trip to Italy, or taking advantage of recent re-openings at local museums, this special encounter with my long-time friend and colleague is not to miss!

Jeremy Boudreau has lived, studied and taught in Florence since 2000. His training is as a museum educator and art historian and his specialization is the art and culture of Renaissance Italy. After graduating with a degree in Museum Education from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, Jeremy completed his MA in Art History at Syracuse University as a Florence Fellow. He has taught art history in Florence for nearly fifteen years, most recently joining the British Institute of Florence’s Senior Management Team as Head of History of Art in 2014. Today, he oversees a team of lecturers who contribute to the British Institute’s history of art courses and study abroad programs.
